Bio |
Andy Hamilton | Andy joined us midway through season 09-10 and put his rather considerable rear on the line for us throughout his short stint with the team. A powerful striker who was a real handful for defences. |
Brendan Black | Brendan is a footballing centre half who looked to be an astute signing for the club in 08-09, unfortunately for us work opportunity’s meant a relocation to Wales and the end of a brief albeit promising career. |
Colin Hewitt | What can I say about Colin. Colin is an aggressive no nonsense centre half who is fluent in two languages, neither decipherable by man or beast. Colin is tee-total and has a great sense of fashion. His commitment to cause could never be doubted as he once turned up and trained in his “going out clothes” including leather dancing shoes. Marvelous! |
Craig Laird | Craig was one of the founder members of the club but quickly decided that Golf was in fact the game for him. He was a fullback who was comfortable either side of the back four but can now be found closer to the back nine! Rumours persist that he may have reinvented himself as a football referee, he certainly has the Pierluigi Collina style hair do for it. |
David Stark | Alba’s answer to Socrates had a real passion for fags back in the day, could often be found with one in his mouth by the side of the pitch. He even once attended a training session after mistakenly believing that there was a game that night. Alba’s resident DJ/Delboy trotter “knows a boy” for most things so he is very much your go to guy! |
David Turner | David Turner Jr was a popular stiker but he struggled to live up to the unavoidable comparisons of his father and fellow Alba player David J Turner (Snr). Eventually David decided he would have to move to pastures new in order to emerge from his father’s shadow. |
Dale McCall | Dale is a powerfully built striker cum sweeper with a bullet of a left peg. He is also one of the most loyal and committed footballers you will ever hope to meet. The day that Alba became Dale’s 75th club of season 09-10 he declared that we were the only club he ever wanted to play for. Two weeks later Dale signed for Glenpark and declared that they were the only club he ever wanted to play for. Two weeks later Dale signed for Cabrera and declared they were the only club he ever wanted to play for. |
Gordon Brown | “Broony” as he was inevitably known was a highly talented defender who had two spells with us during season 08-09 sandwiched by a brief stay at East of Scotland side Letih Athletic. Broony was a real leader at the back and his experience was essential in gaining promotion that season. He left at the end of 08-09 with best wishes to join Junior side Dundonald Bluebell where he is still plying his trade. |
Greg Ross | Greg is a real man’s man. He works really hard from 7-10am each day and can then be found eating a bacon roll, supping his Irn Bru and “seeing to himself” in the back of his works van for the rest of the day. A talented utility man, Greg’s Alba career 08-09 was blighted by a persistent groin injury that may have been excacerbated by all that time spent in the back of the van, this ultimately limited his game time. |
Jamie Buchanan | Jamie was the closest Alba had to a fully fledged professional footballer given the fact that he is the spitting image of Christian Dailly. He joined the club as a striker but a shortage of defenders one dark winters night saw him transformed into a centre half and he never looked back from there. Jamie enjoyed two very good seasons with the club but work commitments have led to him hanging up the boots for now. |
Matias Lubo Tejedor | Matias was with club for a very brief spell at the start of the 09-10 season. A bit like Kaiser Sause' one minute he was there and the next.......he was gone.
|
Rob Courtney | Rob finished a colourful career off with a spell at Alba towards the end of the 08-09 season. The manchester born striker hung up his football boots to pursue a career as an Oasis impersonator and is the current lead singer of no-way-sis.
|
Richard Laucht | Richard is one of the fastest players to ever wear an Alba shirt. Unfortunately he was also one of the fastest to leave Alba when a lack of game time led to him moving on early in the 08-09 season. Richard is now running a residential Polo school in the Hamptons in NYC.
|
Richard Welsby | Welsby aka "The Weasel" is currently on the run from the UK government and is believed to have fled to the middle east where he has numerous "business" contacts. Richard was an old school gangster and had built up his operation in the west of scotland before moving into the "construction" industry in the east. His empire was rumoured to have stretched as far as London at one time. Richard was however a true gentlemen and very good left sided football player. Richard wherever you are, God Bless.
|
Scott Campbell | Scott was the Alba GK for season 08-09 through to end of 09-10. He was one of the finest in the association never mind the division and the next incumbent of the Alba gloves will have a lot to live up to. Scott remains with the club in a commitee capacity but is unable to play anymore due to a young family.
|
Stewart Paterson | Mr Paterson was another who was a brief incumbent in the Alba jersey. He left to take up drinking on a saturday afternoon with his mates and will forever be remembered as a George Best type Enigma - well at leas Bestie made the effort to get to games come to think of it.
|
Tam Muir | Tam hails from one of the toughest housing estates in Windsor. As a youngster he often Biff'd his chums for being darn right scalywags. Tam was everyones favourite at Alba during his season between 08-09 and his shouts of "Tam's ball" still ring out on dark winter nights down at Saughton. Tam left the club as his life slowly spun out of control ever since "that night" when he used the F word in public. Tam has a love of drink, drugs and fast women and this should set him up perfectly for his new career in politics.
|
Walter Hamilton | Walter was not only a very talented footballer but was also a very good amateur tennis player. It was with great sadness for Walter that the committee learnt that he had been informed that he would have to retire immediately from all sport at the tender age of 31. A great player for Alba in his two seasons with us especially 08-09 when he was a pivotal figure in getting the club promoted and to a cup final.
